Should I repair or replace my AC?
It depends on age, what failed, and the repair history. A capacitor or contactor on a ten-year-old system is worth repairing. A failed compressor on a fifteen-year-old R-22 system usually is not. We diagnose first and give you both numbers.
How long should an air conditioner last in Florida?
North Central Florida systems run hard for a long cooling season. Many reach 12 to 15 years, and regular maintenance is the single biggest factor in getting to the top of that range.
My system uses R-22. Does that force a replacement?
Not automatically, but it changes the math. R-22 is no longer produced, so recharging a leaking R-22 system is expensive and only buys time. On a large repair, replacement is often the better value.
Will a bigger system cool the house better?
No. An oversized system satisfies the thermostat quickly, shuts off before it removes humidity, and leaves the house cold and clammy while wearing itself out. Correct sizing matters more than raw capacity.
